Ann Arbour, Michigan - Cookstown, Ontario

Last night we stayed at another Motel 6.... It was nice and retro, but one thing we found was that all motel 6’s stink like cigarettes. We went into a non-smoking room, but people seem to smoke anyway, because every single one stinks. Uhg. You get what you pay for, I guess.  The weather has been consistently nice today! Hot-hot-hot, but boy, is it a nice change!
Before we left to go to the border crossing, we stopped at a mall for a good 2 hours. We each got a new pair of shoes! Mum got a pretty pinky-nude colored heels with a flower the same color on the front that are apparently really comfy - she’s been wearing them since the minute she got them! Taysia got flats similar to some I have - canvas for the shoe part, and straw soles, also with a flower on it, and I got a pair of flip flops!!! I am so happy, because mum threw away my old ones that were positively magical, because she thought they we “ratty”. Sheesh. Can’t a kid have a favorite pair of shoes? Anyway, we replaced them with ones very similar. My old ones were Flojos, but these ones are tommy hilfiger (Also a fraction of the price). They’re chocolate brown with thin straps (how I like them - I can’t stand thick straps) with arch supports, but they look like normal flipflops! Sorry, as you can tell, I love ranting about a good deal.
After we finally left the mall, we headed towards the Ontario border. On the way there, we passed by Detroit. I asked if we could check it out, but then mum told me that it was a very depressed town. As we drove through it, I discovered what she meant. Entire neighborhoods were abandoned, and some houses were burned, some were falling apart, with the paint peeling of the sides of houses, and windows smashed. Mum was afraid to take us into the city, for fear of being attacked by looters. That was quite scary to imagine.
The border crossing went across a bridge, and the line stretched past that. That’s how long the line was, if you can imagine.  But the border crossing to the states was even longer. Yee. Craziness.
We had quite the time getting into the KOA in Cookstown. We’d driven down an entirely different route than we were supposed to, and we spent a good ten minutes trying to figure out where the heck this campsite was.  When we finally found it, we were extremely relieved.
When we were on our way to the campsite, mum all of a sudden pointed to something... We looked and looked, and then after a minute of searching what she was pointing to, we noticed a sort-of helevator. Then a roller coaster. Then another one! Then all of a sudden, it occured to us that we were looking at Canada’s Wonderland. You should’ve seen our shrieks of joy! It lasted for what seemed like forever!  Mum filled us in on the deets of the next few days [btw we’re in Ontario for 3 days]: Tomorrow: Toronto, downtown!
Nite! Have to shower :P
